It was 9 oclock when I woke up yesterday. This was necessary because at half past 10 I needed to be at the station to travel to Amsterdam. First, I went to Leeuwarden and after that trip, I had to wait for the train to Hilversum.
When I wanted to enter the train, some people who were standing right in front of me were talking English. Well, as you might know, I love English and I helped them the way though. They needed to be in Amsterdam too, for a boat trip. It was very nice talking to them, they were from Seattle. Well, when I heard that, my first thought was: what the hell are theyre doing in the Netherlands. The answer came straight after I asked, of course. The woman of the couple has some aunts living in Sneek and Leeuwarden, so it was very interesting. It also was kinda funny, because if I had spoken Frisian (which I obviously cant) she would understand me though. Her parents were from the Netherlands, but she was born in California. Also, she could understand what I was saying in Dutch when I spoke very slowly. Well, Ive never met such people who can speak English and Frisian at the same time, so I had to tell you about it.
But, the ironic part was that her husband didnt speak or understand a word Frisian or Dutch. Doenst matter to me, I like English and its not that hard to speak it, but we had some talk about countrys which cant speak English, or at least cant understand what youre saying. So I spoke English all the way to Amsterdam and then said goodbye. It was real fun. Actually, I think travelling is fun. Youre meeting new, nice people and have conversations about everything. Im looking forward to the next meeting of Scholieren.com (by the way: the meeting was very nice and I learned from that too), maybe Ill meet nice people again.
